Other than this problem with the DVD drives the rest of Winderz 7 seems to work fine and it is purty as can be. I reccomend that you do like I have and set up a dual boot and run the old os with win 7 as a curiosity till then.

We early adopters are just going to have to wait till good ole MS gets the first service upgrade for win 7 out and hope that maybe they fix these problems. I am running an Asus M3N78 PRO mother board with the Phenom 64 4 cahnnel processor and two new dvd drives that both pass the compatibility test. I am sure that you are as frustrated as we customers are. I would have a little more respect for you guys.

If you dont know how to fix these problems just be honest and say so. Reminds me of the help offered in the Linux rooms. This is a carry over from Vista instead of an improvement and these tech experts seem to only find excuses for not knowing what the problem is or how to fix it.

One major difference is that I cant get even the windows install dvd to run after installing the os.
I am having something like the same problems here with Windows 7. I have tried to burn the ISO as a file and then burn the ISO image on a different PC, the normal data burn to DVD failed also. (Error code: 0x80004005) I have uninstalled the drive in device manager and rebooted and Windows reinstalled it with no problems. The ISO burn program gives the following message after it makes a coaster: The disc image didn't burn successfully because an error occurred. I have successfully burnt to this same drive when I was running Windows XP, I used Nero 7 OEM to do my burning then.
I have NO other burning software installed. A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP.
Looking through Event Logs I am seeing: Log Name: System Source: cdrom Date: 8:50:56 PM Event ID: 7 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: Kickass Description: The device, \Device\CdRom3, has a bad block. The motherboard is running the latest available firmware, 1.3. I am running an MSI P6N Diamond motherboard with the latest nVidia chipset drivers, 15.51.

I did a firmware update to the DVD burner about 1 month ago to BL06. I am using a SATA Lite-On DVD-W LH-20A1L, it can burn to ALL DVD media types.
